AI Promotes Equity, not Equality

Equity means giving people what they need to succeed, which may be different for each individual, while equality means giving everyone the same resources.

AI tools can assist people in overcoming certain cognitive or educational limitations—such as helping with writing, summarizing, or data analysis—but this doesn’t erase underlying intellectual differences. Critical thinking, creativity, judgment, and deep domain knowledge remain human-driven, even when assisted by AI.

Example: A student using AI to write an essay may produce a decent draft, but if they don't understand the content, they still struggle to argue or improve upon it effectively.

Analogy: AI is like a calculator for thinking—it can boost performance, but if you don’t understand math, the calculator won’t help you understand why the answer matters.

Implication:  With the advent of AI, the gainers are those who know how to use it as a tool—not those who simply use it like a robot. Don't just ride along—be the driver of AI, not a careless passenger.
